2015 - 2016

I produce works that are self-aware, sculptures that are stubborn in their disposition and honest to their personal histories. Through questions of origin and the exposure of systems I speak to the mystery of things. I am interested in the notion of the slice, this moment between skin and girth that allows meaning to leak from the matter that surrounds us, like the drop on a slide or the rings of a tree. As a perennial optimist who is skeptical of ownership I hack the worthless into worth and the worthy into abstraction. I believe that in sculpture the crafted and the found can finally be friends. I wabi-sabi my way through life, matter as my lens; material, circumstance, and potential as my guides.
